Started in 1992 in Kandal province, Youth Development Program (YDP) aims to provide professional training skills to the poor and marginalized youths from the urban and rural areas across the country. This program is ultimately seeking to provide skill to youth so that they can look for employment to improve their living condition.
Over the last 20 years, YDP program has played an important role in shaping the future of young poor youth in Cambodia through the provision of specific skill for their life time so that they could transform their life and behavior change. Under good collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Vocational Training Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs, YDP’s vocational training skills have been designed based on the current demand of the market. YDP provides in-house training in the center and deploy students in various workshops in Kandal and Phnom Penh.
Objective
- To provide opportunity to Cambodian youths, disabled from poor families to access to vocational training skills so that they can look for employment and live independently and
- To promote network, peace, justice and hope to youth group by engaging them in various social activities.
What we do
- Provide professional training skills:
- In-house: 1/Community Dynamics, 2/ Painting , 3/Computer Application and 4/ Administration and Basic Accounting
- In workshops: 1/ Restaurant Management, 2/ Automobile and Motor Repairing, 3/ Air-Conditioning Repairing, 4/ Electronic and Phone Repairing, 5/ Cosmetology, 6/ Electrician and 7/ Sewing Machine Repairing
- Provide value based education to youth
- Strengthen role and responsibility of the youth club for development
- Build network between graduate youth and current students on job employment and internships.
- Provide accommodation for trainees whose families are identified as the poorest from the rural area so that they can attend the training courses fully.
- Provide internship and exchange program
- Build network with the government and NGOs to look for further training program and employment
